Teachers play an instrumental role in the successful implementation of the STEM programs. It is important to have well trained teachers to deliver top class STEM curriculum in class. Teachers in this course will explore and analyze current issues in STEM education, investigate how student performance data informs school and district program decision making, learn how to lead and empower teachers in the mapping of STEM curriculum across grade levels, and develop strategies to develop effective district-wide STEM professional development for teachers.

  • Clearly articulate and describe various attributes of a STEM education and use current issues and own experiences as a STEM teacher to support teacher position.
  • Use a variety of resources to identify and describe current issues guiding STEM education.
  • Use data to identify STEM areas of need in school and plan to address these needs using a collaborative inquiry approach.
  • Develop a long-term STEM professional development plan for school.
